Sean is a UK Internet pioneer who began experimenting with ‘packet switched networks’ in the late 1980s whilst a graduate researcher at Loughborough University. He created his first public Web site in 1992 when such sites in the UK numbered less than 50. Throughout the 1990s he wrote extensively for the academic and popular press.

He left academia in 1995 to help start Web design company Headland Multimedia, working with clients such as Girobank, 3i, Raleigh Bikes, Alliance and Leicester, Cornhill Direct and Pace Micro Technology. He collected the Times/New Media Age award for Best E-commerce Site in 2000.

He went on to establish Cuttlefish Multimedia in 2000. A company that has gone on to employ eight members of staff and develop a diverse client base including David Wilson Homes, Leicestershire County Council and Charnwood Borough Council.

Cuttlefish joined forces with video production company Channel 2020 in 2007 to form Calico Interactive, a Web design and multimedia company specialising in ‘Web 2.0’ technologies. His role at Calico is to formulate strategies for exploiting new Internet technologies.

Sean is also a successful digital artist who has performed and exhibited around the UK and Europe. He holds an honours degree in Computer Studies from Loughborough University and a masters degree in Digital Arts from Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London. He is a member of the British Computer Society and the Rhizome arts community.
